Job Summary
The Senior Software Engineer will join the Surface Transportation Division to work on Software Applications and systems for the Rail / Transit Industry. This person will be expected to apply a systematic, disciplined, quantifiable approach to the construction, analysis, or management of the Rail Product software. You will use your independent judgment skills to make decisions in day-to-day job responsibilities the majority of the time under general supervision.

Job Responsibilities
  • Perform software development for complex, enterprise level software.
  • Participate in Requirement analysis and Design / Code reviews
  • Handle documentation for design, development, testing and training.
  • Participate on project teams to develop and support Rail Products.
  • Provide training and mentorship for less seasoned engineers
  • Participate in identifying changes to processes and procedures to help improve quality and efficiency

Basic Qualifications
The ideal candidate should possess:
  • Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) discipline.
  • Experience working with C/C++ and Java.
  • Knowledge and hands on experience with one or more of the following: MS SQL, Oracle database, TCL, SWING, Python, Ruby, VMware.
  • Able to follow and enforce engineering processes and guidelines
  • Experience writing software documentation.
  • Able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Able to work independently or within a team.

Desired Skills:
  • Design level experience
  • Experience with Java and GUIs
  • Enjoy problem solving and committed to delivering high-quality software
  • A strong sense of ownership, urgency, and drive
  • Positive attitude and eager to learn and improve
