Burns & McDonnell has an exciting opportunity in our Transmission and Distribution Group for a Project Manager in any of our California offices (Orange County, San Diego, Pasadena and Bay Area). The ideal candidate will have proven experience executing engineer, procure, and construct (EPC) projects. The Project Manager will work within the BMcD matrix organization to help grow Transmission & Distribution project load within the region in a dynamic and profitable manner based upon Burns & McDonnell's core values of client satisfaction, commitment, dedication, integrity, safety and overall outstanding service. The Project Manager will be responsible for overall project management, project planning, scheduling, resource management, budgeting and establishing and meeting critical project objectives. Responsibilities may include:

  • Direct and coordinate bidding, negotiation, and execution activities of several disciplines on a project of moderate scope or a combination of smaller projects.
  • Direct coordination with clients
  • Assist in direction of planning, budgeting and establishing critical project objectives.
  • Work within the regional office to identify opportunities and manage team efforts for submittals, proposals, presentations, contract negotiation, and related activities
  • Ensure profitable and sound growth. Achieve stated targets and standards for project financial performance.
  • Adhere to Burns & McDonnell's Quality Control Program and maintain Burns & McDonnell's Safety Program.
  • Participate in go/no-go evaluations, ensure establishment of project work plans and review fee estimates
  • Demonstrate creativity, foresight and mature judgment in anticipating and solving problems.
  • Serve as the technical advisor; provides senior-level input and evaluation on transmission and distribution projects (i.e., renewable energy, energy storage, transmission & distribution, including gas
  • Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills; strong interpersonal skills; and the ability to clearly and effectively present complex information to all levels of employees, management, and clients.
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or related field from an accredited curriculum is preferred.
  • Minimum 7 years related industry experience, including 3 or more years supporting engineer, procure, and construct projects.
  • Must have ability to deal effectively with a wide variety of project-related matters.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) registration preferred.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred.
  • Must possess strong technical, project management skills and a strategic perspective.
  • Must be proficient in the use of basic computer software (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint). An advanced degree and/or professional license are desirable.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred.

Travel will be required on a project to project basis. Average travel 20%
