The Opportunity
RS&H is currently seeking an experienced Aviation CAD Leader to join our Infrastructure Group.  Location can be in our Atlanta, Austin, Charlotte, Dallas, Detroit, Denver, Chicago, Jacksonville, Los Angeles, Raleigh or Tampa offices.

STANDARDS MANAGEMENT

  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other designers to determine CAD requirements and deliverables for various projects.

  • Creation of new CAD content to meet enterprise standards including development of integrated production standards and details to increase efficiency in construction document production.

  • Implementation and maintenance of a centralized library to be accessed across offices.

  • Develop and implement process flows for design development and quality control and assurance efforts.

  • Create, upgrade, and deploy strategies for the CAD Standards implementation effort.

  • Assess: Evaluate current workflows, strategies, budgets, projects, and staffing,

  • Plan: Create a plan for implementation based of CAD Standards.

  • Solve: Execute the plan, provide required training, develop master templates across disciplines, installing necessary software, etc.

  • Confirm: Demonstrate the success of the plan by evaluating goals established in the assessment. 


PROJECT INVOLVEMENT

  • Develop and enforce CAD Standards and quality control strategies for projects. Facilitate cross discipline coordination, conduct project inspections to ensure standards are being followed throughout full life cycle of projects.

  • Provide general CAD technical support to production staff.



TRAINING/ONBOARDING

  • Mentor and train entry-level engineers, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively.

  • Implement CAD training programs including but not limited to, developing onboarding training, continuing education for various staff levels and leading new software roll-out.  


TECHNOLOGY

  • Manage software products including but not limited to incorporating new version releases and customization of CAD and related products (AviPlan, Hydraflow, ICPR4)

  • Provide hardware and network support working closely with IT as it relates to CAD production.

  • Stay informed on industry best practices to create written evaluations and budgets for future technology adoption for the Airfield Market Segment.

  • Familiarity of GIS, BIM, and CAD 3D for integration of planning and buildings work.

  • Lead efforts for the integration of engineering software and plugins.


REPORTING

  • Work with enterprise Digital Practice and IT to coordinate compatibility between aviation standards and company standards as well as roll out new software and updated versions.

  • Work with Aviation CAD Standards Committee to determine needs and requirements, implement standards, provide training, and improve processes.


QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

  • 10+ years of experience in CAD operations, preferably within the civil engineering industry.

  • Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or similar applications.

  • Strong knowledge of civil engineering principles and practices.

  • Attention to detail, with a focus on maintaining high-quality CAD standards.

  • Problem-solving abilities and the capacity to make sound decisions.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills

  • Demonstrated leadership skills

  • Must have a Valid Driver's License with a good driving record

  • Ability to effectively manage multiple assignments and tasks, set priorities, and adapt to changing conditions and work assignments.


Typical salary range for this position in Los Angeles is $111,090 - 177,790 and commensurate with experience relative to the position.
