Salary Range: $100,000 - $110,000

Schedule: Weekends and Evening Availability Required

Reports To: Regional Banquet Director

Supervises: Banquet Supervisor, Servers, House Persons and Bartenders.

The Spirit of the Position:

The Banquet Manager supports the oversight of the financial, operational, safety and service-related success at their hotel(s).

Principal Job Duties:
  • Responsible for the financial, operational, safety and service-related success at their hotel.
  • Managing, planning, scheduling, training, and directing the activities of Shift Leads and frontline staff.
  • Ensure that increased revenue, controlled expenses, and customer satisfaction is maximized by maintaining the highest level of safety & service thresholds and initiatives that are aligned with the expectations of our various clients.
  • Responsible for the management of all aspects of the Banquet Department functions, in accordance with Hotel standards.
  • Directs, implements and maintains a service and management philosophy which serves as a guide to respective staff to ensure 100% guest satisfaction.
  • Additional duties as assigned.




Work Environment/Job involves working:

  • Banquet function areas, meeting rooms and service areas, Kitchen/Stewarding
  • Under variable temperature conditions (or extreme heat or cold).
  • Under variable noise levels.
  • Outdoors/indoors.
  • Around fumes and/or odor hazards.
  • Around dust and/or mite hazards.
  • Around chemicals.




Key Relationships:


  • Internal: Staff in Banquets, Convention Services, Bar, Stewarding/Kitchen, Catering/Sales/Storeroom/other F&B Services and Managers, Front Desk/Accounting/Housekeeping/ Executive Offices/Security and Engineering.
  • External: Hotel guests/visitors, Banquet Vendor personnel (i.e., florists, bands), Equipment Repair personnel.




Essential Qualifications:

  • High school graduate or equivalent vocational training certificate, some college.
  • Minimum years of age to serve alcoholic beverages.
  • 3 years experience as a Banquet Manager preferably at a style Hotel.
  • Food handling certificate.
  • Knowledge of various food service styles (i.e., French service, Russian service, tableside flambé service, Butler style service).
  • Knowledge of specific room set-up styles.
  • Knowledge of organizing service from information on B.E.O.'s.
  • Knowledge of staffing guidelines/requirements for various types of banquet functions.
  • Fluency in English both verbal and non-verbal..
  • Compute basic arithmetic.
  • Familiarity with food and beverage cost controls.
  • Familiarity with Sales and Marketing tools for Banquets.
  • Perform job functions with attention to detail, speed and accuracy.
  • Prioritize and organize.
  • Be a clear thinker, remaining calm and resolving problems using good judgement.
  • Follow directions thoroughly.
  • Understand guest's service needs.
  • Work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team.
  • Work with minimal supervision.
  • Maintain confidentiality of guest information and pertinent hotel data.
  • Ascertain departmental training needs and provide such training.
  • Direct performance of staff and follow up with corrections when needed.




Desirable Skills

  • College degree.
  • Previous experience in all positions in the Banquet Department.
  • Fluency in a second language, preferably Spanish.
  • Certification of previous training in liquor, wine and food service
  • Certification in alcohol awareness program.
  • Certification in CPR
  • Ability to suggestively sell.
  • Ability to input and access information in the property management system/computers/point of sales system.
  • Previous guest relations training.
  • Creative ability to decorate food table/displays.




Physical Demands:

  • Willingness to work in the elements - heat, wind, snow, rain, etc.
  • Ability to lift, push and pull at least 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk and run for extended periods of time.
  • Ability bend, stoop, squat and lift frequently throughout a shift.
