Job Description:
To assist the Shuttle Supervisor with coordinating and implementing an efficient shuttle and fleet
program for the University. This position is primarily a driving position and generally acts as a support
to provide backup as an additional supervisor when needed.

Position Hourly Range: $19.50 - $20.17
Hiring salary can be above the posted pay range if candidate's qualifications are determined to be
above the minimum requirements of the position description.

Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Under supervision, responsible for the safe operation of a bus designed to carry 16-33
passengers over streets and highways around university campuses or to various destinations
on university business.
2. Assist the Shuttle Supervisor with scheduling and coordinating daily shuttle services and
department operations. Monitor and report vehicle maintenance requests, coordinate
transportation requests, and train new drivers.
3. Fill in for driver call-outs and other department needs when necessary.
4. Monitor two-way radios for shuttle problems, lateness, and accidents.
5. Responsible for the safe keeping of fuel card and 2-way radio.
6. Review, monitor, and perform safety pre- and post-inspection activities to ensure proper operation conditions, adherence to DOT
standards, and compliance with safety standards and procedures that include: checking motor oil levels, battery, radiator, water
level, tire pressure, body damage, and the brakes.
7. Utilize basic mechanical skills necessary to maintain vehicle safety and report mechanical problems.
8. Observe, listen, and note driver/operator behavior issues, identify address, and correct safety infractions and training needs.
9. Conduct vehicle safety checks; perform general maintenance and cleaning for the shuttle and fleet operations.
10. Maintain vehicle safety logs and passenger and maintenance statistics.
11. Provide excellent customer service to a diverse population, including students, staff, faculty, and visitors.
12. Refuels and maintains shuttle equipment and maintains assigned fuel use logs.
13. Following established guidelines, assist with driver assignments, field trips, and special events.
14. Receives and responds to inquiries concerning routing and other transportation questions; continuously surveys the existing shuttle
program for safety, service costs, and area in need of improvement; advises the Shuttle Supervisor of needs involving safety and
matters.
15. Process transportation & parking reservations in partnership with Campus Safety.
16. Assist with compiling data and provide data reports on shuttle ridership, trends, and effectiveness of various transportation
programs including parking counts.
17. Assist with managing university mobile transit app, GPS Dash Cams, onboard Wi-Fi, and other tech equipment in partnership with
contracted programmers.
18. Assist with maintaining department websites, apps, physical signs, message boards, and social media.
19. Assist with maintaining compliance and personnel records and files for university employees, shuttle program, and university
vehicles such as CDL license and medical certificates, CA DMV registration renewal notices, maintenance records, etc.
20. Assist with preparing and maintaining various records and reports related to routing, schedules, accidents and other transportation
services, shuttle records, fuel use, and vehicle inspection records.
21. Assist mechanic personnel with repairs and preventative maintenance of shuttles and other vehicles; monitor the status of repairs;
inform the Shuttle Supervisor of additional drivers, equipment, and supply needs.
22. Answer phones and manage email communications for departmental emails when not operating a shuttle.
23. Answer inquiries from faculty, staff, or students about shuttle schedules, reservations, and transportation requests. At times
assistance may be needed with parking services and permits.
24. Assist with handling issues and conflicts that arise and hinder the effective daily functioning of the department.
25. Assist with planning, organizing, and providing leadership in Transportation staff's development and scheduling demands.

Other Duties and Responsibilities:
1. May be required to work weekends and other departments during the summer months.
2. Work may be assigned at either Chalon or Doheny Campus.
3. Train staff in following procedures and performing driver duties.
4. Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
5. Represent the Transportation Department at on-campus promotional events, informational meetings, forums, etc.
Requirements:
Knowledge:
Knowledge of transportation operations.
Knowledge of California state Commercial Driving procedures.
Knowledge of various safe driving techniques.
Sufficient working knowledge of computers and software applications (Excel and Word) used by the department.
Knowledge of safe loading and unloading of passengers, including the safe operation and handling of specialized equipment for
unloading passengers with special needs (i.e., wheelchair lifts and tie-downs).
Must have a flexible schedule and work weekends.
Abilities and Skills:
Effectively organize, prioritize, and handle multiple tasks to meet established deadlines.
Must be flexible as well as detailed and team-oriented.
Must exercise sound judgment and make decisive and accurate decisions appropriate to the situation.
Ability to communicate effectively with the Mount Community.
Willingness and ability to work in an environment involving exposure to some cleaning agents/chemicals.

Education:
High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience:
Must have experience working and supervising a shuttle program with Class B drivers.
Must have experience with DOT compliance concerning CHP inspections.
Must have two years or more of transportation supervisory experience.
Must have a clean 3-year driving record.
Sufficient previous experience working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.
Licenses and Certifications:
Must possess a valid Class "B" endorsement "P" California driver's license.
Contingent on completion of a satisfactory driving records check and ongoing participation in the DMV Pull Program (driving record
audits).

Other Requirements:
A background check and pre-employment drug and alcohol testing is required.
