The Opportunity
RS&H is currently seeking an experienced and motivated Aviation Planner III to help lead the growth of our Aviation Planning Service Group Los Angeles, CA!

Overview: The RS&H Aviation Practice includes more than 230 outstanding aviation professionals providing planning, environmental, architectural, and engineering services to airport clients throughout the United States and abroad.

As a full-service consulting and design firm, RS&H airport planners see their projects move from concept to construction. We are growing our Aviation Planning practice. We are seeking a Senior Aviation Planner to help lead our efforts. Current aviation planning projects being undertaken by our team include work for airport authorities, airlines, and agencies relating to demand capacity analysis, modeling, requirement definition, operational improvement analysis, terminal and airside planning, master planning related with airport development programs.

The Role: This leadership role would be responsible for identifying new clients and opportunities for RS&H's Planning Service Group, managing projects including discrete planning tasks as well as major master plan and on-call planning assignments, managing planning staff and hiring new staff, and engaging with engineers, architects, and environmental consultants to ensure project success.

The candidate will have an immediate opportunity to serve in a project management role working directly with airport clients solving complex planning challenges in collaboration with a team of dedicated airport planners, architects, environmental consultants, and engineers.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead, support and managing aviation planning projects for external and internal clients in the United States.

  • Engaging in business development efforts to secure aviation planning work and build client relationships

  • Preparing and managing preparation of high-quality project deliverables, including documentations and presentations

  • Preparing and delivering effective public presentations and representing RS&H to clients and stakeholders

  • Establishing and maintaining connections with professional colleagues, identifying and developing marketing leads, preparing marketing proposals and materials, and representing RS&H at interviews

  • Delivering high-quality products, undertaking financial management of projects and being responsible for client relationships, and management of staff and subcontractors

  • Helping to manage and mentor staff


Qualifications:

  • The ideal candidate will have a thorough understanding of the U.S. aviation industry and established relationships within the airport and airport consulting industry and will have recent planning project experience at multiple airports

  • Bachelor's degree in Planning or closely-related discipline

  • 10+ years of experience

  • Demonstrated experience as a project and/or task leader on airport planning projects including master plans, on-call planning assignments and discrete projects focused on airfield, terminal, landside, and ancillary facility plans


In addition to an excellent understanding of the industry and recent leadership experience, the candidate should have:

  • Good standing in a professional or industry association

  • Ten years or more relevant professional experience within the aviation sector.

  • Demonstrated experience with a range of key clients that could include airport authorities and airlines within the aviation infrastructure sector

  • Demonstrated project management skills

  • AICP and AAAE CM certification is a plus though not a requirement

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)

  • Basic knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3D, ESRI GIS, and how these and other technical tools are used to complete planning projects
