Job Description: Air and Sea Freights Import Manager
Overview:
The Air & Sea Freights Import Manager is tasked with driving the gross profit growth of the business. This position entails overseeing and managing service quality to ensure commitments are achieved and maintained according to client requirements and company objectives, as well as managing the department's overhead.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Spearhead the growth of the Flower Consolidation business from Ecuador and Colombia to ensure HPL Apollo emerges as a market leader.
  • Acquire new customers for the consolidation in collaboration with HPL Apollo teams in Ecuador & Colombia.
  • Review and optimize pricing strategies to maximize gross profit.
  • Negotiate with airlines to prioritize our shipments, in coordination with origin countries.
  • Continuously enhance HPL Apollo's service efficiency and quality.
  • Identify additional Air & Sea freight opportunities to expand HPL Apollo's portfolio.
  • Pursue viable Cross Docking businesses that align with HPL Apollo's operational and financial goals.
  • Fully manage Air & Sea Freight Imports operations, ensuring customer satisfaction and operational efficiency. Develop and implement KPIs.
  • Lead the Air & Sea Freight Imports team effectively.
  • Collaborate with other department managers to enhance service quality.
  • Foster business growth by coordinating with overseas offices.
  • Expand the client base through upselling and networking.
  • Maintain service relations with clients and partner offices globally.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service, providing vendors, shippers, and agents with regular updates.
  • Prioritize safety in all operations.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations, including TSA, CBP, and USDA requirements.

Qualifications

About you:
  • You excel in essential roles with expertise in logistics and freight forwarding, backed by outstanding problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills. Your proficiency in Microsoft Office and understanding of industry-specific documentation enhance your professional capabilities.
  • You possess an Associate Degree or have 2-3 years of experience in logistics, or a comparable mix of education and experience. Your ability to interpret complex documents and effectively manage sensitive situations is complemented by strong presentation skills and, preferably, Spanish proficiency.
  • Your mathematical skills enable you to handle financial metrics and basic accounting confidently. You're adept at problem-solving, capable of adapting to varied situations, and following diverse instructions.
  • You are detail-oriented, thrive under pressure, and can multitask effectively in fast-paced environments. You maintain a professional demeanor and strong interpersonal skills, essential for teamwork and customer interaction.
